ONE MORE DAY!!!

Yes, the time has finally come! Maddie and I are going to see Taylor Swift tooday. She has been so excited to go and just realized last week that the time was here. It seems like forever ago that we bought our tickets and she thought this day would never come! I am picking her up from school and we are headed down to our "reserved" parking spot! (Joe's office is across the street and we get to park in his spot!) I only wish I could of gotten her better seats...instead we are clear up at the top so not too happy about that. Everyone says...oh there isn't a bad seat in that place...well we are about to see! I would so love to win a contest where she could meet her. That would be so awesome! I hope she has as much fun at this concert as she did at the Hannah Montana & Jonas Brothers. Geez...seems like just yesterday my mom and dad were taking me to see Rick Springfield at Red Rocks in Denver!

Update: Took my chances and called tonight and they opened up some more tickets. We now have tickets in a lower section. Yes...it costs a little bit more but it was worth it to see Maddie's face light up when she heard me say...ok...I will take them! Already sold my other ones' which I didn't think would be too hard! So...look for pictures! I am getting excited also!

That time of year!

Max and Caden....striking a pose! What a bunch of dorks!

Well, we didn't have much of a break and here we are....track season kicked off yesterday. Max did very well for being his first High School meet. He ran the 4X800 and the 2mile. Those were the only ones we thought he was running but seems one of the kids "jipped" class or practice so they needed a fill in for the 4x400 also. Now you are thinking...well not so bad. The problem that this mother thought was a "big deal" was he ran the 2 mile...did well but thinking he will improve drastically...and about 15 minutes later runs the 3rd leg of the 4X400. Of course, walking to the starting line would of done me in...but this kid runs it like his legs were fresh. I was afraid he was going to hurt the team a little by having just run that 2 mile but he was pumped! Just wish I had a 1/4 of that kids energy! Am hoping to see big things from this kid this year! So continue to look for updates on Max's track season and although no pictures yet Miss Maddie started softball practice last night. She had cleats but no mitt...that is dad's job!

Yeah for Oscar!

Here is Oscar checking out the backyard just waiting for those squirrels!

If Oscar could talk he would be saying...Oh Thank You Master! Joe (along with the help of Brandon, Max, & friends) has almost completed the fence in our backyard. I, on the other hand, kinda liked the openess of the backyard but know eventually all the yards will have them. When we lived in the other house Oscar would sit by the back door and just wait for those squirrels to run along the fence or scout them out in the tree. He would go crazy. He would run out of the house and leap off the deck....I hope he remembers our new house is walk-out and the deck sits a little higher! Joe likes things done HIS WAY and when the one of the neighbors put up a fence before he had a chance to...oh brother. He was out there staking claim to his property corners and mapping out the layout! I have to say I give him grief for being that way but I sure wouldn't want him to do a shotty job and have it not done right and JOE WILL DO IT RIGHT! I also have that disorder of having things done my way..no really..I know that is hard to believe! So, the weather is turning nicer and Oscar will be in heaven being able to be in the back yard and I won't have to worry about him running away!

Happy Belated Birthday Sister!

Happy 39th Birthday Shelly! Hope your day was great...we love you! What a great sister, aunt & friend you are! We are so blessed to have you in our lives! Enjoy the last year of your 30's...everyone says it is downhill after that but I say that it's just the beginning! Enjoy!

Spring Break 2010

Every year during Spring Break we like to try and take the kids somewhere. We have been to Memphis, San Antonio & Houston. We like to try and go places where the weather will be nice since at this time of the year we are ready for shorts and sandals. We talked about a cruise but things didn't pan out for that so we opted to head to OKC and watch some NCAA basketball. We headed south packing our purple/white & red/blue. We couldn't get tickets to the Cats game but ended up getting pretty good seat for the KU game. It was fun and the kids really enjoyed it. Maddie had to take a snooze during the first game so she would be ready to cheer on the Hawks!
We also visited the OKC Memorial. WOW is all I can say! That is a wonderful memorial and tribute to the people who lost their lives. I still remember the day that happened. I had just gone back to work after being on maternity leave. I remember feeling like I needed to go and get Max and just hold him. I will say that whoever planned out the museum did a great job and I would definitely recommend a visit.

We had a great time and much laughter was had. Maddie's favorite part of this trip and any trip is getting a hotel with a pool! There were many pillow fights and bed jumping going on. Surprised we didn't get asked to leave. I also saw a different side to M&M's relationship. Max was actually giving his sister some attention by teasing her and joking around. Kinda of my heart smile! Of course their father was the instigator of most of the mischief!

We woke up on Saturday to a snow storm...so much for heading somewhere nice for Spring Break! We didn't even pack coats!

We had planned to attend the 2nd session of the NCAA but thought we didn't want to get snowed in so we headed home! We are disappointed about the KU loss but will be cheering on the CATS as they hopefully make a good showing in the Sweet 16!

February Recap!

Well, I have done it again. I have neglected this blog so much that no one is probably even checking it anymore. If I still have some followers out there...thanks for not giving up on me. I have no excuse except....oh wait..I didn't have an excuse did I?

The month of February was very busy. It was filled with P/T Conferences, Valentine's Day (one of my favorite holidays) and oh yeah...I guess we also had a birthday.

I love Valentines Day and really always have. I love to watch Maddie decorate her box for school and then fill out her Valentines to share.

I was surprised with a great Valentine gift from Joe and the kids. They got me shutters for the house and even got them hung the same day! I think it makes a wonderful difference! Now ready for the landscape to bloom again!

We also had P/T Conferences at both schools. Yeah, it was pretty bad...LOL! As usual we were told they were both great kids and great leaders and very respectful. The respect I think is the most important! The only one complaint I got from teachers was that talking was a small problem. Now, you might be thinking that this problem came from the 4th grade teacher..OH NO...from all the freshman teachers. Maxwell Thomas was always my little socialite and he continues on to this day! I have told each one of his teachers that they have my permission to move him to the front of the class. When the teacher moved him to the front of the class b ack in 3rd grade (yes, see a trend), he told Grandpa that he was the teacher's favorite...Grandpa asked him why and he told him that he "gets" to sit right next to her! Only Maxwell!

February also added another year to my age..43 to be exact. I really don't feel any older than I did last year or even 5 years ago. Heck, I was lazy then and still feel the same. I had a great day except for having it fall on Ash Wednesday. Had to settle for Freddy's as they had fish for us and hamburgers for the kids. FYI...I wouldn't recommend the fish..just sayin! The dinner might have sucked but when we got home it was all forgotten! Joe and the kids once again spoiled me rotten! They surprised me with my very own laptop! Santa brought the family one a couple of years ago and it seemed like everyone was always fighting for it! I am guessing Joe's solution to that was get mom her own and let the kids fight it out! Good thinking dad! Granted the gifts were good but the best part of my day was spending it with family and friends! Of course there are no pictures to remember the day b/c after all it was the "picture takers" birthday! I really don't like my picture taken but think as I am getting older (wiser) that mayb I should start being in some of these photos...just so the kids won't forget what I look like!

February also brought an end to the basketball season in the Surmeier household. Max's team finished the season strong and took 2nd in the Hutch tourney! Not bad for being seeded 8th! They really started coming together and playing well. I will miss the basketball but am glad to start seeing Maxwell Thomas run with track already underway! Madison also finished up her season and she went out with quite a bang! Their last game they won 28-2 and Miss Mads had 14 of those points! Some of the opposing fans accused her of being a 5th grader! LOL! her team opted out of a "last" practice and chose to have a Mother/Daughter scrimmage. So I put on the old basketball shoes and tried to remember how I did this 25 years ago. I only took one tumble..my feet weren't moving as fast as my mind wanted them to! Now after playing that game maybe I do feel older!
